JPK awaits her new mission. Reveille for the crew was 0400 and we planned to get underway by 0600. DD850's destination for this day was Newport, RI.	Former JPK crewmembers Mike Angelini, Dave Chase, and Roger Babcock once again take JPK into her old homeport of Newport, RI. JPK has not been back to her original home since 1973.
Tug ties up alongside and into position to move JPK from her berth at Battleship Cove.	The gangway is lifted and the lines are "cut".
Tony Horman, USS N.K. Perry DD883, and Don Charpentier, USS Ranger, pull in the lines.	Kennedy is free of her berth and heading to sea.
The ensign shifts to the underway position, the main mast.	Kennedy departs Battleship Cove.

We're out!	JPK fires a salute from Mt 51 (forward 5"38).
Tug along side and we are heading to Newport through Mt. Hope Bay.	Heading towards the Newport Bridge.
In Newport, we see the Naval Undersea Warfare Center and Pier 1 & 2. JPK tied up here for over 27 years. To the right are the mothballed USS Saratoga, USS Forrestal, and USS Iowa.	Passing Newport Naval Station.
The last time JPK DD850 passed under the Newport Bridge was her last cruise in 1973 to be decommissioned. Mike Angelini was a crewmember aboard JPK at that time. Now in the year 2000, JPK and Mike sail together again under the Bridge some 27 years later.
